Local owner account
Use the local owner, password, and offline recovery boundaries correctly.
What this is5 sections
The workspace owner is the local account that secures this Paydae Desktop installation. It is separate from an auditor account and from any customer-portal identity.
What this is
The desktop sign-in screen uses Email or username and Password or passphrase and states that the credentials are for the workspace owner or active auditor on this device. The owner can use Forgot the owner password? to open local recovery. An auditor must contact the owner rather than resetting owner access.
Owner-only controls include profile/security administration, owner password change, offline access recovery, optional Windows Hello enrollment, workspace settings, backup/restore, and auditor-account management.
When to use it
Use this when choosing the correct credential, changing owner access, restoring a workspace, or explaining why a portal user or auditor cannot perform a local administration action.
Important boundaries
- The owner password and offline recovery code are local secrets. A recovery code is displayed once, is not included in a workspace backup, and must be stored outside the computer.
- A password change signs out previous local sessions; Windows Hello registration must be set up again while the offline recovery code remains independent.
- A customer-portal login does not authenticate to the local payroll workspace, and vendor support does not automatically gain access to desktop records.
Product navigation
Use Profile for profile details. Use Workspace Settings for related local controls, Change Owner Password for an authenticated password change, and select Forgot the owner password? on the sign-in screen to recover access.
What to check
The person is using their own local account, the workspace/organisation context is correct, recovery material is available before a password change or restore, and audit attribution remains tied to the actual user.
