A PAYE period may contain more than one payroll run. Payroll coverage records which finalised runs belong in the employer period and why other runs are excluded. The result is a local reconciliation, not an authority determination.

Steps

  1. Open the PAYE period

Open Calendar → Needs attention, select the employer account and PAYE period, then open Payroll coverage.

  2. Review candidate runs

Review candidate runs, period dates, run types, status, and any off-cycle runs. Inspect source links when the period or assignment is unclear.

  3. Record coverage decisions

Record explicit inclusion or exclusion decisions and a reason. Use the no-expected-runs declaration only when supported by employer evidence; an empty candidate list alone is not a nil return.

  4. Preview and resolve gaps

Preview the reconciliation. Resolve unallocated or blocked runs and employee-population issues before saving a coverage capture.

  5. Save and check freshness

Save the capture and review its revision, source fingerprint, included runs, and freshness. If payroll or setup changes later, check freshness and create a new capture before preparing outputs.

Monthly preparation

The period workspace offers Monthly TaRMS preparation preview for one saved coverage capture. It shows included source runs, FDS and Non-FDS employee counts, amounts by category and currency, and diagnostics. Generate monthly files only when the current preview says generation is ready. An earlier capture or generated batch retains its original source lineage; it does not update automatically.

The separate Documents → Statutory Filings earnings rows also provide reporting-month outputs and optional single-run extracts. A single-run extract is not a substitute for reviewing complete monthly coverage.
