Assign a transaction to an employee
Assign an eligible recurring payroll input and set its employee-specific values and dates.
Before you begin4 sections
Use the employee profile to maintain recurring pay items. The definition must be published and eligible for manual assignment.
Before you begin
Confirm the employee, the approved transaction, its effective period, and any employee-specific amount or reference. Save a new employee record before assigning a pack-controlled transaction.
Steps
- Open recurring payroll inputs
Open Employees, choose the employee row action Edit employee, and open Recurring payroll inputs.
- Choose an eligible item
Add an eligible controlled or custom earning, deduction, employer contribution, or reimbursement.
- Enter employee-specific values
Complete the assignment dialog’s employee-specific values, references, overrides, and effective dates that apply to this input.
- Save and verify the assignment
Save the assignment, then select Save changes on the employee form. If the picker is empty, check the definition’s published state, manual-assignment eligibility, and jurisdiction before changing the employee record.
What to check
Check that the saved assignment belongs to the intended employee and covers the intended payroll period. It affects future payroll preparation. If a draft is already open, refresh or recalculate it before reviewing the result.
Common problems
A published item is absent
Confirm it allows manual employee assignment and matches the employee’s jurisdiction.
A pack-controlled item cannot be assigned yet
Save the new employee record first, then reopen it for the assignment.
An existing draft does not reflect the change
Refresh or recalculate that draft and inspect its calculation lines.
