Paydae creates encrypted, local restore points for the desktop workspace. Open Workspace Backup to create a manual backup, configure automatic backups, or restore a validated snapshot. The feature is local-first: it does not upload workspace data to a Paydae cloud service.
What this is
The page is headed Workspace backup status and says Local encrypted restore points for this desktop workspace. The two main areas are Create Backup and Restore Workspace. Status cards show startup state, automatic execution, last backed up/restored, catch-up due or next automatic backup, and the last automation run.
A backup uses the encrypted .paydaebak format. Its allowlisted workspace payload can include the clean local workspace database, setup metadata, and an encrypted manifest. It does not include the licence, local identity, device/session state, update staging, backup settings/activity, or protected smart-password secret. Generated documents are included only when they are part of the approved persistent workspace store for that installed version.
When to use it
- Create a manual point before a risky change or planned move.
- Configure automatic points when the device can protect the saved smart password and the destination is available.
- Restore a validated point after data loss or replace the current workspace when the selected snapshot is known to be the intended one.
Important restore boundary
Restore is a workspace-data operation, not a licence transfer or account import. On an empty installation, the restore flow checks licence and local owner prerequisites before confirmation. For an existing workspace, first configure a protected smart password in Backup settings. During restore, choose a safety backup destination; Paydae creates and verifies that protected safety point before replacing business data. Replacement does not merge data, preserves this device’s licence and local accounts, and clears active sessions.
What to check
Confirm the selected file, destination, timestamps, size, password state, validation result, and compatibility status before restoring. Backup restore points records local files and their verification status; a point marked Missing cannot be restored from that location. Automatic retention applies only to automatic backups; Manual and safety backups are never deleted by automatic retention. A forgotten backup password cannot be recovered by Paydae.
Data boundary
Keep restore points and exported files in a customer-controlled local location. A support agent cannot inspect a standalone desktop workspace unless you intentionally share approved evidence. Do not put payroll values or backup passwords into a support request.
Common problems
Status is Off
manual backups remain available; configure automatic backups separately.
Run now is disabled
automatic execution may be off, not due, unavailable, or missing a protected smart password. Use Create backup now for a manual point.
Restore is rejected
inspect the displayed validation reason and use Backup restore issue.
A move did not bring accounts or licence state
this is expected; those local installation details are not workspace payload.
Bureau and single-organisation notes
The point protects the local workspace selected on the device. In a Bureau workspace, confirm the organisation context before creating, sharing, or restoring a point; restore does not merge organisations.
