Retirement records the date from which the schedule stops accepting new employee assignments. It preserves the schedule and its version history for review. Plan where employees will be assigned for later service dates before retiring a schedule they still use.

Before you begin

Confirm the selected organisation, schedule, intended retirement date and current roster. Check future occurrences and any open, submitted or finalised payroll that may depend on the schedule. If employees need another primary regular schedule, plan their effective-dated assignments.

Retire the schedule

  1. Open the retirement action

Open Payroll → Schedules and choose Retire schedule from the intended schedule’s row actions. This action requires schedule-management permission and is unavailable on an already retired schedule.

  2. Choose the effective date

In Choose the retirement date, enter Retire effective from and select Retire to continue. New assignments to this schedule stop from the selected date.

  3. Confirm the schedule and date

Review the schedule name and date in Confirm retirement. Use Back to change the date, or select Confirm retirement when they are correct.

  4. Check subsequent payroll setup

Reopen View schedule details to confirm the retirement date. Review affected employee assignments and future pay-run eligibility. Refresh and recalculate any editable draft whose captured inputs need updating.

What to check

An employee must have an unambiguous primary schedule for employed service dates that you intend to process as regular payroll. A retired schedule is not deleted; historical runs and rule versions remain reviewable. A retirement does not finalise a draft or move employees to another schedule automatically. See Assign employees to pay schedules and Understand schedule changes and payroll drafts.
