A workspace is the local container for owner access, licence state, backup and recovery posture, settings, and payroll organisations. An organisation is an employer or bureau client with its own employees, payroll setup, statutory profile, runs, documents and audit evidence.

Two scopes to keep distinct

  • Workspace scope includes local owner and auditor access, licence and device state, backups, updates, diagnostics, and preferences.
  • Organisation scope includes the selected employer’s records and payroll work. A bureau can contain several separate client organisations.

Signing in to a workspace does not select the right client for every task. In a bureau workspace, use Workspace Admin → Organisations or the organisation switch control to choose a client. Check the selected organisation again after following a dashboard or notification action.

Where work begins

Dashboard shows the selected organisation’s Payroll Action Center. The bureau Workspace Admin → Dashboard shows workspace actions and organisations requiring attention. My Organisation in a company workspace shows the employer profile; bureau users reach a client’s organisation records through its selected context and organisation management. Workspace Settings manages local installation and access settings, with controls limited by persona.

A read-only auditor can inspect supported evidence without changing payroll or master data. The local owner can use record-changing controls when permitted. See Sign in and recover local access for account methods.

Data boundary

Payroll data remains in the local workspace unless an explicit export, backup, migration or sharing workflow moves it. Keep files and evidence with the correct organisation. A product readiness signal is not statutory approval or proof of filing. The organisation remains responsible for device security, authorised access, backups, exports, retention and official submissions.
