Record salary backpay and arrears
Allocate outstanding salary to its original service months in an eligible pay run.
Use Basic Salary Backpay when salary arrears relate to earlier service months. The controlled entry records each original month and amount; the current reporting month and payment date come from the pay run. Use the source run’s correction workflow for wages already calculated in that run.
- Confirm the run and employee
Select a suitable run, such as Backpay or arrears, and include the eligible employee. Confirm the current service period, statutory pack, currency, and evidence for each unpaid original month.
- Choose Basic Salary Backpay
In Hours & Earnings, open the employee’s transaction actions, select Add transaction, and choose Basic Salary Backpay if it is available for this run. Do not substitute a generic salary item merely to bypass a missing eligibility or catalogue requirement.
- Allocate the original periods
Under Original-period allocation, add each original month in YYYY-MM format with its arrears amount. Use each month once. The editor totals the rows into the transaction amount and supplies the original service-period list. Confirm the displayed current reporting month and payment date; they are read-only values from the run.
- Save and preview
Save the transaction and draft, then run Preview payroll. Check the employee’s calculated pay, statutory treatment, currency conversion if required, and the preserved original-period evidence. Correct any validation message before finalisation.
The off-cycle service range itself stays within one calendar month. The allocation records earlier months to which the arrears relate; it does not turn the current run into a multi-month service period.
