Restore a workspace during onboarding
Prepare and restore business data from an encrypted Paydae backup on a fresh installation.
Before you begin2 sections
Choose restore before starting a blank workspace. Paydae checks the encrypted backup and local prerequisites before installing its business data.
Before you begin
Have the intended .paydaebak file and its password or protected secret. Keep the old installation and source backup unchanged until the restored workspace is verified. Be ready to establish local owner access and a new recovery code on this device.
Steps
- Open the restore path
Continue through Welcome to Paydae and Your payroll data stays local. At Choose how to start, select Restore Workspace From Backup.
- Prepare the backup
Select the backup and provide its password or available protected secret. Review the displayed workspace identity, creation time, version, organisation count and compatibility result before proceeding.
- Complete local prerequisites
Follow any prompt to check the current local entitlement, sign in as the owner, create a local owner, or enroll offline recovery. Return to the same prepared restore operation after meeting the prerequisite.
- Confirm and monitor the restore
Review the operation and confirm when Paydae allows it. Follow validation, installation and verification status through completion; if the handoff is interrupted, resume the tracked operation rather than starting another one.
- Verify the restored workspace
Sign in and inspect the expected organisations, employees, recent payroll runs and included documents. Reconfigure automatic backup on this device, verify its destination, and make a new backup after checking the restored data.
A portable business-data backup does not carry the old device’s licence, owner or auditor credentials, sessions, tokens, or recovery enrollment. If validation fails, confirm the file and password; do not rename an unrelated file or overwrite the source backup. See Restore a workspace for restore outcomes and recovery.
