Some published custom earning definitions with a direct amount field offer Gross and Net in the pay-run transaction dialog. Net records the desired take-home amount for that earning so the payroll calculation can resolve the corresponding gross amount. The choice is not offered for every controlled item or for definitions driven by units, rate, quantity, or percentage.

Steps

  1. In an editable regular or off-cycle draft, include the employee and open Add transaction in Hours & Earnings.
  2. Select an eligible published custom earning. If the amount-entry choice appears, select Net and enter Target net amount. Otherwise use the fields displayed by that definition.
  3. Complete any required currency, reference, or calculation fields, then select Add transaction.
  4. Select Save progress and run Preview payroll. Review the resulting grossed-up earning, deductions, and employee net pay. Resolve a calculation blocker or no-solution result before finalising.

Changing the target or another payroll input requires a fresh preview. The run preview is the authority for the final gross and net results. A separate target-net salary estimate is planned and should not be confused with this transaction-entry option.
