An employer cost is an organisation-owned contribution or liability shown on top of employee pay. Create one only when the active controlled catalogue does not already supply the required employer-side item.

Before you begin

Open Transactions for the selected organisation. Confirm the cost’s code, name, value source, effective date, supported currency, entry policy, and intended employer-side treatment.

Steps

  1. Open custom transactions

    Select Custom transactions.

  2. Choose an employer contribution category

Select New custom transaction, then choose the approved employer contribution tax category offered by the archetype catalogue.

  3. Enter the definition identity

Enter a unique code, name, and description.

  4. Set the value model

Choose the supported value model and complete its required amount, units and rate, percentage, or basis inputs.

  5. Review availability and treatment

Set effective dates, currency, permitted entry actions, payslip/audit visibility, and any applicable reporting details. Review the fixed payroll treatment for the selected archetype.

  6. Preview and save

Review the payroll treatment preview and select “Save draft”.

  7. Check the draft

Inspect the Draft definition before publishing it through the custom lifecycle.

What to check

The custom list should show the employer contribution as “Draft” or “Published”. After it is used in a payroll preview, check the “Employer costs” total and the company section of payroll review. Compare the backend result with the organisation’s approved payroll policy.

Important boundaries

The launch editor does not expose statutory-basis controls for employer contributions. Do not claim that this screen binds an employer cost to a statutory basis. Use a controlled pack item for pack-owned statutory liabilities and review the generated result in payroll.

Common problems

Duplicate code or missing value-model input

Fix it in the custom editor.

Required contribution is in the Controlled catalogue

Use its displayed action; do not clone it.

Total differs from expectation

Trace it through the payroll preview and transaction source, not by changing a statutory result.
